PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface modifier, an object modified by the surface modifier, a dispersion of nanoparticles modified by the surface modifier and a method of manufacturing the nanoparticles which makes the hydrophobic cores of micelles formed from the surface modifier the reaction field.;SOLUTION: The surface modifier consists of a graft copolymer between a polymerizable monomer having a group represented by general formula (I) and a polymerizable monomer having a repeating unit represented by general formula (II).
