An oil and gas well drilling system comprises: a torque drive system having an output shaft; a drill string rotated by the torque drive system; and an instrumented internal blowout preventer valve for connection between the torque drive system output shaft and the drill string, wherein the valve comprises: a valve housing, and one or more measurement devices mounted to the valve housing for measuring desired drill string drilling parameters during an oil and gas well drilling operation.
