A method for assaying rifampicin content in blood samples in the course of antituberculous therapy comprises the extraction of rifampicin from blood plasma and spectrophotometry of the samples. To the sample of serum, 2 mL of distilled water and 4 drops of hydrochloric acid are added. The sample is stirred, and 5 mL of chloroform and 5 mL of potassium hydroxide solution are added. The samples are centrifuged at 3,000 rpm for 10 minures. The alkaline layer is transferred to the tubes, and the optical density is measured at 470 nm. The rifampicin content is calculated with the aid of the calibration curve within 0.5-50 µg/mL.
