An herbal composition for oral administration, comprising a root extract Heliopsis longipes in an amount of 0.01% -10% by weight of said composition in admixture with an oral excipient, which composition has a form selected from the group consisting of a powder, a gel, a paste, a tablet, capsule, chewing gum, a lozenge, aerosol or spray, and a liquid containing at least one flavoring agent, wherein said composition provides an amount of 0.5 mg 1000 mg of said extract for effective dose.
