Process for the extraction of nickel, cobalt and other metals from laterite ores by means of heap leaching, characterized in that it comprises a crushing (I) that obtains a maximum grain size of between approximately 25.0 mm and approximately 50.0 mm mm in a secondary crushing, and a maximum grain size between about 12.5 mm and about 6.30 mm in tertiary crushing, agglomeration (II), stacking (III) and heap leachate (IV) stages, the latter being stage a continuous countercurrent heap leachate system with two or more stages, which has two phases, one of which is composed of the ore (solute) and the other composed of the leachate solution, or solvent, which are supplied in opposite ends of the series of stages and flow in opposite directions until, at the end of the leachate in the last stage, its solute is removed and a new stage is introduced at the first position comprising new ore (solute) to be leached through the solvent solution that is introduced from the last stage, percolating or flowing through all the previous stages until it reaches the first stage, which is separated if it is loaded with target metals (PLS).
