摘要

The present invention relates to a matrix material for the safe intermediateand/or final storage of radioactive waste,said matrix comprising graphite and at least one inorganic binder. Knownmaterials do not guarantee that radioactive waste can besafely encased for a period of more than 10 million years. The matrix materialand blocks made thereof are suitable for the safeembedding and final storage of radioactive waste for an even longer time thanthis. Further, blocks made of the matrix materialcan be easily manufactured with the radioactive waste encased in the blocks.
