The invention provides a method, a relay node, and a packet data gateway for local gateway IP address allocation, the allocation method includes: the packet data gateway allocates IP address for a local gateway; then the packet data gateway sends the IP address to the local gateway. Through the invention, the packet data gateway is adopted for allocating IP address for the local gateway, thus the problem of local gateway address allocation is solved, therefore the S5 data sent by the core network can be ensured to successfully arrive at the local gateway.
