The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for easily and highly sensitively detecting or assaying two substances respectively, said substances having a common site and uncommon sites each possibly serving as an epitope, from a sample that contains these two substances. Provided is a method for detecting or assaying two substances respectively, said substances having a common site and uncommon sites each possibly serving as an epitope, from a sample that contains these two substances, said method comprising: a step for incubating the sample in contact with a first antibody that is capable of recognizing the common site; a step for incubating the substances, said substances having bound to the first antibody, in contact with a second antibody that is capable of recognizing the uncommon site of one of the substances; and a step for detecting or assaying the common site and the uncommon site.
