THE USE OF ARTICHOKE FOR ERADICATION OF HEPATITIS C VIRUS (HCV)

The invention relates to a discovery of a significant biological activity of the Artichokes for the eradication of hepatitis C virus (HCV). Within short time and without side effects, the water extract of the globe Artichoke plant showed complete eradication of HCV. The biological evaluation was done on Egyptian volunteer patients infected with HCV. The monitoring of analysis was done through PCR before and after phytotherapy. In addition, the extract cured ascites, jaundice and normalized the liver enzymes SGPT & SGOT and showed significant activity against acne, obesity, diabetes, and has digestive effect and vermifuge. The dosage forms are capsules, tablets and syrups. The used parts of the plant are leaves, roots, seeds and/or flowers.
