A pressure-limiting valve, particularly for protecting a pump and a load in hydraulic steering assistance systems, is provided with a valve housing (1), a valve seat unit furnished with a valve seat (4) and an inlet bore (3), and a closing member (5) which is pre-tensioned with a pre-tensioning force by a spring element (6) in the closed position. The valve housing and the valve seat unit designed as a valve seat pin (2) are arranged with a clearance fit relative to one another and are fixed in the axial position relative to one another by a securing device (12, 13) after the pre-tensioning force has been set.
