PURPOSE: A composition containing a Meretrix extract for preventing and treating emphysema and pulmonary hypertension is provided to effectively suppress elastase activities without side effects and to effectively remove DPPH and NO. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating emphysema and pulmonary hypertension contains a Meretrix extract as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared using 10-100 volume% 2-5 alcohol solution and heating. The extract is prepared by adding 100-10000 parts by weight of 10-100 volume% ethanol solution to 100 parts by weight of Meretrix and heating for 10 minutes to 30 hours.
