According to the present invention, a method for isolating an extract of Zanthoxylum schinifolium having anticancer activity and a use of the extract are characterized by producing an extract of Zanthoxylum schinifolium, an anticancer composition containing the extract of Zanthoxylum schinifolium as an active ingredient, and vitamin B17 contained in the composition. A method for extracting a physiologically active material from Zanthoxylum schinifolium, comprises the steps of: drying a Zanthoxylum schinifolium sample; separating the dried Zanthoxylum schinifolium into peels and contents; pulverizing the peels and contents of the Zanthoxylum schinifolium; heating the pulverized peels and contents in boiling water; and removing solid materials from the Zanthoxylum schinifolium heated in boiling water and then extracting the liquid.
