A scanner having an automatic paper feeder of the present invention comprises: a communication interfacing unit to communicate with an external printer; a scan operating unit to operate scanning; an automatic paper feeding unit to automatically feed paper which is targeted to be scanned to the scan operating unit; and a controller to control the scan speed of a scanner and scanning operation. When the communication interfacing unit receives a speed request on a scan from the printer, the controller controls the interval between the paper to be scanned fed from the automatic paper feeding unit to perform scanning with the received requested speed.
