The present invention relates to a system for designing a virtual building using 3ds Max, which constructs a building with studs by a steel house method. The system includes: a construction DB unit which sets and constructs components and patterns of materials by the steel house method, and semantic relationships between the components and the patterns; a building designing unit which selects a pattern and modifies components in the selected pattern to assemble a building; an animation unit which performs a steel house animation; and a stud calculating unit which calculates the amount of studs for a completed building. By the above system for designing a virtual building, building design can be easily changed and costs can be effectively reduced by simulating building design such as the incorporation in the manufacturing process of the building, design, providing change information, assembly, etc.
