The present invention relates to a casein-free label adhesive and a preparing method thereof. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method of preparing a casein-free label adhesive, the method being characterized by including the steps of: dispersing and heating starch in purified water to prepare a starch solution; dispersing and mixing a water-resistance-adjusting agent in the starch solution; and mixing a water-soluble polymer adhesive solution with the starch solution mixture, and to a label adhesive prepared thereby. Since the casein-free label adhesive of the present invention is inexpensive compared to a casein-containing adhesive, also has excellent adhesion, and does not use a zinc compound, such as zinc oxide, zinc sulfate or the like, or a zirconium compound added to the casein-containing adhesive, the casein-free label adhesive causes less environmental pollution due to a heavy metal.
