The method involves forming time integrals for the model value and an actual value over a difference between a starting value and the model value and a difference between another starting value and the actual value, respectively. A pair of integrals for an integration duration is formed for the time integral of the model value, and another pair of integrals for the duration is formed for the time integral of the actual value. Dynamic parameters of an exhaust gas probe (15) are changed in relation to nominal values based on a result of a mathematical formula utilizing the four integrals. An independent claim is also included for a device for dynamics diagnosis of an exhaust gas probe arranged in an exhaust gas passage of a combustion engine.
