The controller has an interface to a sensor device (SEN) for optical acquisition a vehicle ahead-lying environment. A line of sight detecting system determines a line of sight of a vehicle operator (DRV). A synthesizing unit provides symbolic field of view information based on driver formation, and inserts the symbolic field of view information in computational model. An output unit outputs the symbolic field of view information based on determined line of sight, so that projection of the field of view information is essentially congruent on a windshield (WND) of a vehicle (VHC). An independent claim is included for a vehicle equipped with the head-up display.
