The control unit evaluates an electric signal (140) of the evaluation unit corresponding to the determined state variable for controlling the signal elements. The signal elements are arranged at battery housing elements (118, 120) or in an inner space (122) of the battery housing elements, where the electrical state variable is freely selectable by an operator from two possibilities. The electrical state variable is selected from electric current, electric voltage, current delivered electric power or a charge state of a vehicle battery.
