The system (SYS) has an input interface (1) to receive alternating current inlet voltage, and an inverter (2) connected to a primary insulation transformer (5) through a resonant circuit (4). A secondary rectifier stage (6) is connected to a secondary insulation transformer. A control unit (8) is configured to control the inverter in order to generate rectified voltage at terminals of the resonant circuit irrespective of sign of input voltage. A current sensor (CPT) measures a sign of the current circulating in the resonant circuit.
