The present invention relates to a portable system for exploring the visual field of a patient (202), characterized in that it comprises: a plurality of light sources (1021, ..., 102n) arranged inside a helmet (104) carried by the patient (202), the light sources (1021, ..., 102n) being arranged so that they are visible to the patient (202), means for selectively controlling (106) the sources lights (1021, ..., 102n) and actuatable means (108) by the patient (202) to respond to visual stimuli generated by the light sources (1021, ..., 102n). The invention also relates to a method implemented in this system.
