The invention relates to a method of operating (EXP) a geological reservoir by means of a reservoir model consistent with a geological model (MG). For this process, several reservoir models (MRn) are constructed using different scaling methods. Using a connectivity study, conducted using an algorithm to solve the problem of the shortest path (DIS) applied to the meshes, we identify the main flow paths between the wells for the geological model (MG) as well as for different tank models (MRn). The reservoir model (MR) is selected for which the lengths of the main flow paths between wells are the closest to those obtained for the initial geological model.
