PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high carbon steel wire material capable of achieving good SV processability on a condition that a rolling scale exists without conducting acid washing or film treatment by enhancing adhesiveness of the rolling scale, and a method useful for manufacturing the high carbon steel wire material.;SOLUTION: The high carbon steel wire material contains C:0.6 to 0.90%, Si:0.05 to 0.50%, Mn:0.2 to 1.0% and Al:0.005% or less (excluding 0%) and the balance iron with inevitable impurities and has a volume ratio of FeO in a scale of a wire material surface of 10% or less and a deposition amount of the scale of 10 g/m2 to 30 g/m2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2015,JPO&INPIT
