PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for discriminating varieties of domestic and foreign rice.SOLUTION: The method for discriminating domestic and foreign rice plants or tissue derived from the same, or processed products of the same includes a step of discriminating whether a rice plant or the tissue derived from the plant, or a processed product of the same is domestic or foreign based on genetic polymorphism of an mPing insertion region in a test genome DNA. The mPing insertion region is the third mPing insertion region found in the sixth chromosome, and/or the first mPing insertion region found in the 12th chromosome. Further, at least two primers and a set thereof, detectable of presence of the mPing insertion regions in rice plants are provided.
