PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Glycyrrhiza plant strain for possibly subculturing and proliferating Glycyrrhiza plants, with a high content rate of retained glycyrrhizin, and to provide a method for proliferating the Glycyrrhiza plant.SOLUTION: The Glycyrrhiza plant strain has a high content rate of glycyrrhizin in the root, retains the high content rate of the glycyrrhizin after the subculture, and can regenerate plant bodies by nutriculture of cut pieces of the root or the stem. The method for proliferating the Glycyrrhiza plant includes at least steps for: immersing the cut pieces of the root or the stem, that are collected from the plant body of a parental strain, in an aqueous solution containing at least divalent ferrous ions, and performing the nutriculture using the cut pieces. The Glycyrrhiza plant strain can retain the high content rate of glycyrrhizin after the subculture. Accordingly, for example, multiple planting materials are acquired from one plant body and their cut pieces are grown by the nutriculture to acquire multiple Glycyrrhiza plant bodies with high content rate of glycyrrhizin.
