PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a balancing weight that can reduce labor of moving in a height direction during attaching to/detaching from a balancing weight by contriving a shape to be suspended from a suspension rope supported by the balancing weight.;SOLUTION: The balancing weight spacer is connected to a main rope, disposed below a balancing weight 10 elevated in a hoistway in association with traveling of the main rope and, to adjust a distance from a buffer disposed below the balancing weight 10, attached to the lower part of the balancing weight to be connectable by a plurality in the height direction. The spacer includes a base part 21 and attaching pieces 22A extending from longitudinal both ends of the base part 21 in a direction perpendicular to a longitudinal direction.
