PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for detecting a weld bead defect with improved accuracy.;SOLUTION: The weld bead defect detector 10 for detecting a weld bead defect includes: point group data classifying means 200 for classifying a weld model BL into an abnormal point and a normal point, on the basis of a comparison between the weld model BL and a smooth model SL or a comparison between the smooth model SL and a broken line model VL; missing area classifying means 300 for classifying the weld model BL into a missing area GG and a non-missing area GN, on the basis of the abnormal point and a distance between adjacent normal points; and missing area combining means 400 for sequentially combining the missing area GG or the non-missing area GN to form a combined missing area GGG.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
