PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a study desk or combination furniture of a study desk and a bookshelf, which is stable in weight balance due to its desk top fixed on its legs, and can be easily adjusted in the effective depth of the desk top, and easily used in both usage patterns of placing a bookshelf just in contact with the desk top back end and near the desk top back end. PSOLUTION: A study desk A is designed to be placed with the back end of its desk top 1 in close contact with the wall or the front face of a bookshelf B, the desk top 1 being supported by legs 2 on both sides. Both legs are arranged in a way of not backwardly sticking out of the back end of the desk top, while an expansion top 3 which is attached to the desk top or the legs directly or indirectly via another member, the desk A can be set either in a horizontal position where the expansion top attached to the back end of the desk top together with the desk top forms a continuously joined level surface, or in a storage position where the expansion top is stored in a way that it does not stick out of the desk top back end.
