A compact optical key based on a two-dimensional photonic crystal waveguides are coupled with a ressoador magneto - Optical. The present invention is a key point of view that promotes the control of transmission of an electromagnetic signal in optical devices. It is based on a two-dimensional photonic crystal defects which are inserted in a controlled manner.The device has two states (on and off), and the transition between the same controlled from the variation of an external DC magnetic field H0. In the state on occurs in signal transmission, low insertion losses, while in the off state signal is blocked, with high isolation between the waveguides of entry and exit.The operation of the device is based on the guidance of a dipole mode, excited in the resonant cavity by an electromagnetic signal. When there occurs the application of the field H0, the nodes of the dipole aligned to be perpendicular to the axis of the waveguides, occurring of the transmission signal (on).On the other hand, the application of the field H0 is that the dipole mode suffers a rotation by 90 degrees, so that its US line up parallel to the axis of the waveguides, interrupting the transmission of the signal (off state).
