Wustite iron catalyst for the synthesis of ammonia, according to the invention, containing in the form theustust phase and promoter oxides is characterized in that it contains nanocrystalline iron in an amount of 5 to 15%, the average size of iron crystallites being in the range from 10 to 20 nm.
