A conversation participant may join, leave, and/or re-join the conversation stream at any time. Camera video streams conveying each participant's face is contributed to the conversation stream in-conjunction with other content including text messages, web video streams (e.g. YouTubeTM videos), photos, drawings, etc. Participants may contribute text messages to the conversation stream, while simultaneously conveying their own and perceiving others' facial expressions, via the camera video streams, before, during, and after each text message is contributed. Additionally, participants may experience shared content together while conveying and perceiving facial expressions of one another.
