CAT MONITORING OF THE PROCESSES OF COLD PRESERVATION AND CRYOPRESERVATION OF BIOLOGICAL MATERIAL

The invention relates to the novel use of computed axial tomography (CAT) for monitoring processes of cold preservation and cryopreservation of biological material. The use of CAT allows said processes to be significantly improved as a result of the capacity thereof to detect the concentration of cryoprotectant in the cryopreservation processes and to detect the formation of ice in biological samples. The invention applies to the sector of investigation or analysis of materials by determination of the chemical or physical properties thereof, and within said sector, is also relevant to both the conventional preservation of food and the cryopreservation of all types of biological material (slow freezing, rapid vitrification, inter alia).
