A man-made retaining dam for a coal mine underground reservoir. A man-made retaining dam (30) is embedded into a coal pillar dam body (2) and surrounding rock (3) around an auxiliary tunnel (1), a cross section of the man-made retaining dam (30) is an arc, and a concave surface of the arc man-made retaining dam (30) faces an underground reservoir. Also disclosed is a method for connecting a coal pillar dam body, surrounding rock, and a man-made retaining dam for a coal mine underground reservoir. The retaining dam improves anti-sliding performance of a man-made retaining dam, and can effectively absorb the impact on the dam body when the water pressure suddenly increases.
