A bus current diagnosis method for the short circuit fault of a switched reluctance motor power converter. An instantaneous value of a bus current of a switched reluctance motor power converter is detected so that a mean value delta of the maximum values of a wavelet transform coefficient corresponding to the bus current under different scale parameters is computed and serves as a fault feature value. The short circuit fault of a main switch in the position of the switched reluctance motor power converter is diagnosed by using a mean value delta curve of the maximum values of the wavelet transform coefficient corresponding to the bus current of the switched reluctance motor power converter within the entire rotational speed range under different scale parameters. The diagnosis method is applicable to the diagnosis of the short circuit fault of the main switch in the position of the switched reluctance motor power converter with multiple topological structures and multiple phase numbers, and is also accurate in short circuit fault diagnosis and great in engineering application value.
