A nuclide identification method, a nuclide identification system, and a light neutron emitter. The light neutron emitter (10) comprises: a pulsed electron accelerator (11) used for emitting electrons; and, a light neutron converter target (12) used for receiving the electron emitted by the pulsed electron accelerator and for converting the electrons into light neutrons, where the size of the light neutron converter target is roughly 100 to 8000 cubic centimeters, 100 to 2500 cubic centimeters or roughly 785 cubic centimeters. The nuclide identification method, the nuclide identification system, and the light neutron emitter are practical and allow for increased accuracy in nuclide identification, and particularly for increased accuracy in identification of fissile nuclides such as 233U, 235U, and 239Pu.
