The invention relates to compounds based on benzoxazoles, in which selected substituents are each a reactive group A bonded via a linker L for the covalent bonding of compounds according to the invention with a molecule K to be marked, where A is an amine, hydroxyl or phosphoramidite function a carboxylic acid, an alkyl or an active ester derived therefrom; a carboxylic acid hydrazide; or a carboxylic acid amide, wherein K is a covalently bonded moiety selected from the group of haptens, proteins (antibodies), low molecular weight drugs, peptides, nucleotides, nucleosides, DNA oligomers, polymers, and t represents the numbers 1-10 , and L is a linker selected from a group with - (CH 2) s -, - [(CH 2) m -O] p - (CH 2) m -, NR 10 - (CH 2) s -, -O- (CH 2) s -, -S- (CH 2) s -, -NR 10 -C (O) - (CH 2) s -, -NR 10 -C (O) -O- (CH 2) s -, - NR10-C (O) -NR11- (CH2) s - or -SO2 -NR10- (CH2) s - where R10 and R11 are independently hydrogen, alkyl and alkoxy-alkyl (- [(CH2) m -O] p - CH 3), ε-sulfonic acid-alkyl (- (CH 2) r -SO 3), m are the numbers 2-5, p, r and s independently represent the numbers from 1-10.
