The present invention relates to a pH-sensitive water-soluble photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy, and more specifically, to a pH-sensitive water-soluble photosensitizer, which is obtained by conjugating polyamino acid and polyamino acid, into which a pH-sensitive material containing tertiary amine is introduced, to a photosensitizer. The pH-sensitive water-soluble photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy of the present invention has higher dissolubility and fluorescence than an existing hydrophobic photosensitizer; exhibits a high efficiency of generating active oxygen species at the time of laser irradiation; and has effects of preventing in vivo agglomeration and improving targeting efficiency. In addition, the intermolecular charges of the pH-sensitive water-soluble photosensitizer exhibit negative polarity at a high pH and positive polarity at a low pH, thereby facilitating the accumulation and inflow of the pH-sensitive water-soluble photosensitizer in tissues or cells of a disease site with a low pH, and thus exhibiting higher photodynamic therapy effects. Therefore, the pH-sensitive water-soluble photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy according to the present invention can be useful as a photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy to treat cancers.
