The present invention relates to a method to automatically acquire a road surface shape by using a mobile mapping system and, more specifically, to a method to automatically acquire a road surface shape by using a mobile mapping system (MMS), capable of automatically acquiring a road surface shape by using MMS data, acquired from a vehicle-based MMS comprising GPS/INS, DMI, and an information acquiring device such as a laser scanner or a digital camera. According to the present invention, the method includes a first step of generating 3D LAS data by using the MMS data, acquired from the MMS; a second step of extracting a 3D point by using the 3D LAS data; a third step of setting a threshold value for each of the correlation and allowable range for extracting a road surface point from the 3D point; a fourth step of filtering the road surface point by applying the threshold value of each of the correlation and allowable range to the 3D point; and a fifth step of generating the road surface shape by using the filtered road surface point.
