The present invention relates to a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) marker in the LPL gene for diagnosing the meat quality of Hanwoo (Korean beef) and to a method for diagnosing the meat quality of Hanwoo using the same, and provides an SNP marker composition for diagnosing the meat quality of Hanwoo, wherein the composition comprises a polynucleotide composed of 10-100 consecutive DNA sequences, including at least one nucleotide selected from the group consisting of the 295^th nucleotide of SEQ ID NO: 1, the 251^st nucleotide of SEQ ID NO: 2, the 251^st nucleotide of SEQ ID NO: 3, the 251^st nucleotide of SEQ ID NO: 4, and the 251^st nucleotide of SEQ ID NO: 5, or a polynucleotide complementary thereto. In addition, the present invention provides a method for diagnosing the meat quality of Hanwoo using the SNP marker, and a diagnostic kit. Based on such, the present invention can be advantageously used to select and develop breeds of Hanwoo having excellent meat quality at early stages.
