Disclosed are a method and apparatus for protecting information based on big data by selecting and managing information with risk factors using the log information of terminals that connect to an information management server. A log management device is provided. The log management device includes: a database; a filter unit configured to receive connection information from a plurality of terminals that connect to an information management server, and to filter the connection information to extract log information therefrom; an agent unit configured to collect the log information and store the collected log information in the database; and an analysis unit configured to extract information that exceeds a preset threshold among the log information to generate excess information, and to store the excess information in the database.
