According to the present invention, provided is an apparatus for reading and branding a medium which includes: a bottom body; a top body which is formed separately from the bottom body in order for the medium for reading and branding to pass; a movement part for moving the medium between the bottom body and the top body; a reading part which is formed at one of the bottom body or the top body, and reads information of the inserted medium; a branding part which is formed at one of the bottom body or the top body as being protruded outward, and prints information according to the reading result of the reading part on the medium; and a first medium hooking prevention part which is formed at one of the bottom body or the top body, and prevents the moving medium from being hooked by the branding part.
