A lining element (10) for reinforced soil structures, comprising: a first lining sub-element (12) containing at least one connecting element (16), configured to connect at least one reinforcing element with the first facing lining element (12), - the second facing sub-element (14), - a connecting device (22), in which the first (12) and second (14) facing sub-elements are separated by a gap (20) and connected together by a connecting device (22) so that the first and second facing sub-elements are kept constant relative position. 2. The facing element according to claim 1, wherein said second facing sub-element comprises at least one connecting element (18) configured to connect at least one reinforcing element with said second facing sub-element (14). A cladding element according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the gap (20) is filled with a compressible material, so that the total compressive deformation of the cladding element in at least one direction is from 0.5% to 20%. 4. The cladding element according to claim 3, in which the material filling the gap (20) has compressibility, so that the total compressive deformation of the cladding element in at least one direction is from 1% to 5% .5. Cladding element according to claim 1, wherein the bonding device (22) is configured to be released or removed while the cladding element is part of a reinforced soil structure.
