FIELD: physics, computer engineering.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of preserving the appearance of monuments. The method includes creating a log of the architectural look of a monument and making information cards of volume-composition solution, the internal structure of the monument, the surface of the monument, illumination and the surroundings of the monument. The log of the architectural look of the monument and the information cards are stored using computer and information technologies in a database in the form of two information units: main and duplicating, and are protected from unauthorised access using software. Information on the geometric characteristics of the volume-composition solution of the monument and its separate elements, as well as on the physical characteristics of the material of the surfaces of the separate characteristic areas of the monument and areas of the surroundings of the monument, on the relative arrangement of the monument and other objects, is stored in the form of computerised blueprints and images in 2D and 3D formats.;EFFECT: high accuracy of restoring original copies of monuments and architectural look of surroundings in case of partial or complete loss or destruction.;3 cl, 1 dwg
