FIELD: instrumentation.SUBSTANCE: indenting is carried out by the method of pendulum scribing, measurement of the sample damage area as the scribing result, establishment of interconnection of measured results with surveyed operating and physical-mechanical properties of materials, forecasting of operating properties of compared materials by measured results of scribing. As the measured result they determine area of material damage along the entire length of the scribing trace when viewed from top, and by the value of its area they decide on the period of resistance of a metal-cutting tool made from compared materials, on the basis of the following condition: the more is the material damage surface, the lower is the resistance period, and vice versa.EFFECT: simplified method to assess material properties, and forecasting of efficiency of using compared materials under identical conditions of operation due to provision of possibility of their ranging by the value of the parameter measured at control, namely, by the area of trace of pendulum scribing.1 tbl, 6 dwg
