The disclosure relates to a method for controlled aging of fast pyrolysis bio-oil. The method is characterized in that it comprises modulation of the aging reactions of the fast pyrolysis bio-oil for retaining the usability of the fast pyrolysis bio-oil. This is achieved by subjecting the fast pyrolysis bio-oil to temperature regulation and/or to a catalytic treatment for producing aged fast pyrolysis bio-oil. The disclosure further relates to aged fast pyrolysis bio-oil obtainable by the said method and to a plant for producing said fast pyrolysis bio-oil.
