PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide method and device for detecting an island network condition in an energy supply network.SOLUTION: A method for detecting an island network condition in an energy supply network 5 comprises: a step of determining, during a first period having a predetermined duration, whether a frequency variation is larger than a first threshold value or not; a step of determining whether the frequency variation is larger than a predetermined second threshold value under the condition that the first threshold value is not equal to the second threshold value and the first period is not a second period; and a step of detecting the island network condition in the energy supply network 5 when the frequency variation is higher than the predetermined first threshold value of at least the first period and higher than the predetermined second threshold value of at least the second period, and the first period is within the second period.
