PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination system having a simple configuration and capable of suppressing power loss, lighting facilities, and a controller.SOLUTION: A power supply device 31 comprises an AC/DC conversion unit 31C which converts AC commercial power AC1 to DC power for LED driving. A controller 34 comprises a switching unit 46 which switches the input of the AC commercial power AC1 to the AC/DC conversion unit 31C to on or off, and a control unit 49 which inputs the DC power of a battery power supply 41 to the AC/DC conversion unit 31 through the switching unit 46 when a commercial power supply failure occurs. Under this configuration, the control unit 49 controls the switching unit 46 on the basis of an output of a solar cell module 36, and inputs AC power from the commercial power supply or DC power from the battery power supply 41 to the AC/DC conversion unit 31C during the night during which ambient brightness is darker than a prescribed brightness.
