Treatment of insulin resistance associated with long-term physical inactivity

Insulin resistance biomarkers and related methods using the biomarkers are provided. The biomarker may be a blood biomarker and may include C-peptide, insulin-like growth factor binding protein 2 (IGFBP-2) and leptin. Also provided are methods for reducing the effects of long-term physical inactivity on insulin resistance in a subject experiencing long-term physical inactivity or expected to experience long-term physical inactivity in the near future.
