This pearl assessment system is characterized by being provided with an image data receiving unit (410) which acquires pearl image data, a type determination unit (210) which uses the acquired pearl image data to determine which of three systems the pearl belongs to on the basis of a system determination standard determined in advance by information relating to color, and a grade determination unit (220) which determines the grade of the pearl, the system of which was determined, on the basis of that grade determination standard which, of three predetermined grade determination standards corresponding to the three systems, corresponds to the system to which the pearl was determined to belong.
