The invention pertains to the use of a composition for the prevention or treatment of overweight or obesity in a patient having type 2 diabetes, said composition having an energy density between 0.9 and 1.5 kcal / ml and comprising isomaltulose and a a protein source, wherein said protein source is present at between 12 and 25% by weight based on the total composition and comprises at least 10% by weight of aspartate equivalents based on the total protein content.
