The present invention relates to the field of pharmacological treatment of chronic pain. Dimiracetam is a chiral compound. For the scope of the present invention, the term "dimiracetam" identifies the isolated (R) or (S) enantiomers of dimiracetam, or mixtures thereof in which the two enantiomers are present in equal or different amounts. The object of the invention is the use of dimiracetam or a pharmaceutically acceptable solvate thereof for the treatment and/or prevention of chronic pain caused by osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune osteoarthrosis forms, and also for the preparation of a medicament used therefor in a preparative form.
